Files of Strange Incidences
A photograph is infinitely more interesting if it has a tale attached. Inspired by both The Magnus Archives and The SCP Foundation, the Files of Strange Incidences is an ongoing work combining photographic artworks with fictional short stories meant to concern and, at times, confuse. Each "Case File" follows a new incident recorded by a nameless archivist; some of which overlap, some of which stand on their own.
For the most part, each work in this series starts out as just a photograph. I'll see a potentially creepy location or have an odd idea pop into my brain. As quickly as time and resources allow, I'll snap the photo and edit until satisfied. Despite using a modern DSL, I lean towards the grainier and antiquated aesthetic and edit these photographs to reflect as such. Upon the completion of each photograph, I sat down to compose an accompanying story. Sometimes the idea flows easily from mind to fingertip without issue. Other times, there are notes of ideas and short stints in researched rabbit holes I have to clamber out of.
As of the writing of this, I am unclear where this project will be in the future and what form it will fully take at its end (whenever that may be), but, for now, it will remain a series that tells me more about itself as I continue this journey in art making and wordsmithing.
