St. Peter Lutheran Church
St. Peter is a Lutheran Church located in Bowie. About halfway through 2024, they decided to modernize certain aspects of their establishment by employing my services as their only graphic designer. Some of the designs had specific instructions for what they wanted (ex: it needs to fit a certain theme or have specific visuals) while for others I was able to have full creative reign.

Despite being around for so long, St. Peter Lutheran Church had yet to establish a logo. After months of brainstorming, sketching, digital drafting, and input from congregation members, a final logo was established.
The symbol itself is a simplified version of the main building's front with its stained glass windows and tower. The three beams of light are meant to signify the holy trinity, shining down on the church from heaven. A version of the logo using LCMS Maroon (or Lutheran Maroon, as some have claimed it to be) is the primary logo coloring. Black and white is utilized when the Maroon is not an option. |

BrochureTo breathe new life into St. Peter Lutheran Church’s outdated two-sided brochure, I designed a modern accordion-fold layout. Using the church’s signature maroon color for brand consistency, the brochure now features a clean, engaging design that includes a short history of the church, its mission statement, worship service details, year-round activities, and up-to-date contact information. The new format offers both function and elegance—serving as a welcoming introduction for visitors and a practical resource for existing members.

WebsiteWebsites are almost a necessity for businesses, or business adjacent institutions, in today's world. St. Peter had gone as far to set up a website, but it was bare-bones and needed some help to be more visually appealing. After taking some new photographs, editing some old graphics, and double-checking information, I was able to create a more welcoming product.

Bulletin InsertsThese designs were created to advertise and draw attention to different events or goings-on in the church. Announcements may be made and travel by word of mouth, but bulletin inserts (a 5.5 x 8.5 in paper) are what help the congregation members/church visitors remember. It gives them something visual to look at and physical to take home with them.
Note: Some things within these inserts have been marked out to protect individual's info from being used irresponsibly by those outside their church. |

LWML RedesignsThe LWML (Lutheran Women's Missionary League) is an organization who work to affirm women's relationship with the Christ, support gospel outreach, and partake in mission services.
St. Peter's LWML group had some poster and other materials posted to a large bulletin board within the church to advertise some of the things they did. I created these designs to replace the plain purple cardstock they originally had. They get the original intended message across while also providing visuals to catch passerby's eyes. |

Church Group PostersWith the supervision of each church sub-group, I created a logo and a poster to better advertise and put up on bulletin boards within the church.

Monthly Newsletter Graphics
Every month, St. Peter Lutheran Church prints a newsletter featuring a written letter from the pastor, upcoming volunteer duties, and full pages of photos taken from the different events put on/attended. Due to resources available, the newsletter is created in a word document and printed out on normal copy paper. These banners were designed to be easily inserted into those Word documents, providing much-needed color, visual interest, and consistency along the tops of each page. The "background" of each banner changes depending on the month and what it entails, but the overall layout stays consistent, displaying the name of the letter and a wax-stamp-like logo.
Coloring PagesIn an attempt to give the church a unique edge and provide something fun for the children of the congregation, I created these coloring pages based off of the historical artworks and photos of St. Peter through its many changes.
These coloring pages are completely free and available to download on the church's website. |

PostersOne of the Sunday School teachers at the church I do graphic design work for asked if I would create some posters for her classroom. She gave me several references and asked that I made them look more appealing towards older children. After sourcing some vector artworks from freepik and pixabay, I was able to come up with results she liked.
